St. Joseph Diner prepares and serves free lunch meals at 11am to anyone who is hungry. The Diner also delivers weekday noon meals to the homebound. St. Joseph Diner's low income Senior Pantry provides bread and assorted baked goods on a weekly basis; supplemental food boxes monthly; and holiday baskets during Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. Emergency food boxes are distributed to individuals in crisis who are accessing an emergency pantry for the first time.
In 2012 St. Joseph Diner was awarded a Pugh Family Foundation grant to build a fruit and vegetable garden, complete with a chicken coop. The new garden will supply St. Joseph Diner with nutritious, organic produce and fresh eggs year round, which will be used to prepare healthy meals for the hungry.
In addition to providing cost-effective fresh ingredients, the garden will offer an opportunity for hands-on learning with community volunteers and residents of St. Joseph Shelter for Men and St. Michael Center for Veterans.
