Opus Christi Magnum (OCM), meaning "The Great Work of Christ”, is the primary annual fundraiser for Lafayette Catholic Service Centers (LCSC).
OCM is the successor to the Bishop's Charity Ball and Bishop's Charity Gala, which operated successfully for 20 years. In 2008 Bishop Michael Jarrell restructured the format of the Bishop's Charity Gala to reduce overhead costs, thereby increasing net donations to the poor.
OCM is a distinctly separate campaign from the annual Bishop's Service Appeal. OCM is the principal funding source from the Diocese to LCSC. LCSC does not receive proceeds from the Bishop's Service Appeal.
How does OCM work?
OCM is composed of a series of intimate gatherings, coordinated almost entirely by volunteers, with captains hosting each event. Event captains solicit family, friends, business colleagues and historical donors of the past Galas to make contributions to their individual event.
What does an event look like?

Each OCM event begins with a spiritual reflection led by Bishop Jarrell, followed by informative presentations about Lafayette Catholic Service Centers. The evening continues with a cocktail reception at L' Eveche, the residence adjacent to the Cathedral. Each event provides participants with the opportunity to spend the evening with Bishop Jarrell in both a spiritual and social context, while enjoying an evening with friends in the spirit of continuing "The Great Work of Christ.”
