St. Joseph Diner
613 W. Simcoe Street
337.235.4972 ext. 120
St. Joseph Diner is open 364 days a year to prepare and serve three meals a day to individuals and families experiencing poverty and homelessness in Acadiana. Over 100,000 meals are shared each year at the Diner.
A free lunch meal is provided from 11:00 am - 11:50 am every day to anyone who is hungry. St. Joseph Diner only requires that individuals seeking a meal treat each other, volunteers and staff with respect and dignity. Volunteers are welcome and invited to come help prepare and serve all three meals daily. To sign up, visit our Volunteer Calendar.
Emergency food boxes are distributed to individuals in crisis who are accessing an emergency pantry for the first time. In 2013, St. Joseph Diner began serving breakfast, a meal that was previously unavailable to many, to street-level homeless individuals using the hygiene services at Stella Maris Center.
In 2014, St. Joseph Diner partnered with St. Bernadette Clinic to provide healthy meals and nutrition education to create a structure of healthy living for the most vulnerable in our community. The homeless, shelter residents, and clinic patients have access to nutritious meals to help curtail the effects of chronic diseases. St. Bernadette provides a full time chef and clinical dietician to plan and prepare nutritious meals for St. Joseph Diner.
