"Truly I tell you, whatever you do for the least of these, you do unto me.” Matthew 25:
Feed the Hungry
"I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat. I was thirsty, and you gave me something to drink”
Since 1983, St. Joseph Diner has prepared and served warm meals to the hungry of Acadiana, specifically the homeless, homebound and low income seniors.
Shelter the Homeless
"I was a stranger, and you invited me in”
Since 1987, our doors have been open to homeless men, women, children and veterans of Acadiana. Operating the regions largest men's shelter, St. Joseph Shelter cares for 38 men each night. St. Michael Center for Veterans provides housing and veteran services for up to 20 male veterans.
Also operating the regions largest women and children's shelter, the New Life Center has the capacity to house 58 women and 68 children every night. The New Life Center Child Care is one of only two Class A licensed child care facilities in Louisiana specifically designated to care for the special needs of homeless children.
Through
Shelter Plus Care, we are able to offer 23 rental vouchers to homeless individuals and families to transition from homeless to permanent housing.
Aid those in Financial Crisis
"I was naked and you clothed me”
The Monsignor Sigur Service Center provides emergency financial assistance to individuals and households facing an involuntary situational crisis. Financial assistance includes but is not limited to rent/mortgage, utilities, medical, dental, prescriptions, fire, disaster, burials, and bus fare. We also administer seasonal programs such as Coats for Kids, Toys for Tots and Adopt a Family.
Care for the Sick
"I was sick, and you looked after me”
Though a valuable partnership, Our Lady of Lourdes operates St. Bernadette Clinic on our campus, which offers free basic medical and dental services for the homeless, indigent and uninsured.
